When deciding on a crib, always remember, SAFETY first.  This is by far the most important factor.  You want to choose a crib that will conform to all safety standards as set forth from the Consumer Product Safety Commission.  You may want to visit their site at: http://www.cpsc.gov/ this will open a new window.

The majority of cribs on the market now are “built to grow”, 3-in-1 or 4-in-1 convertible cribs.  Unlike the traditional dropside cribs, these cribs no not have moving parts.  The mattress level is adjustable in order to accommodate a growing child.  Some manufacturers offer “Crib & Changer” styles, which have an attached changing table with drawers/shelving.

Once the child is old enough, or they try and climb out, it is recommended to purchase and install the toddler rail.  This piece transforms the crib into a toddler bed, which has an opening for the toddler to safely go in and out of.  Depending on the collection, the “mini-rail” is either sold separately or may be included in your crib purchase.

If their room is large enough, many customers will convert their crib into a FULL size bed.  This can allow the furniture set to last into adolescence.  The Full Size conversion rails are sold seperately.

If you definitely intend on converting your crib into a toddler bed and/or Full size bed, we highly recommend purchasing the conversion kits at the same time as the crib.  This will ensure that you have them, in the event that the parts become discontinued.

We carry cribs mostly from C & T International. They offer a wide selection of cribs and nursery furniture.  They have 3 different series: Lusso Nursery, Sorelle, and SB2.  Their warehouse is located right here in New Jersey.

When deciding on a crib, please remember that we do stock some cribs but others may have to be special ordered from the manufacturer.  Sometimes it may only take about 2 to 3 weeks for the items to arrive but there are times when item can be back ordered for up to 12 weeks.  When deciding on your nursery furniture, we advise to plan ahead and at least get the order in about 3 months before the baby is due, that way it leaves plenty of time for the pieces to come in stock.
